Blogs: So you Want to Write One

Have you noticed how many courses there are about writing blogs? Most of them extol the virtues of blogging (of course they do … they want you to buy the course!) and give you 5 ways (or 7 or 10 or whatever) to monetise what you write.

I’ve been writing blogs for over 10 years and have never ever made 6 figures in one month and these lovely creatures do just that … 6 figures … constantly … from their blogs! I’m obviously doing it wrong …

How to make your blogs attract …

I’ve seen more webinars of late than I want to think about and they all say the same thing but don’t actually help in what you should do … UNLESS you buy their course.

I believe that one of the things that helps you monetise blogs is getting the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) right. If Google doesn’t know where you belong nobody can find you … if you can’t do this, hire an expert from somewhere like Upwork … inexpensive and will save you a lot of heartache.

Additionally, I believe you have to do great research to find what your market wants to read. If you’re in the 55Plus group, check out some of the successful blogs like Sixty & Me

Blogs can make you rich and famous. If that’s what you want … although rich is good!

All the courses, webinars and what-have-yous I’ve seen are from people who apparently make a LOT of money from their blog. I would like some of that as I’m sure you would …

If you’re going to dream … do it the right way!

The very Basic Plan for your Blogs

The nitty gritty so to speak:
□ Follow the plan to the letter … but get a plan … it will work. See at the end of this article.
□ Use affiliate marketing
□ Gather your tribe
□ Make some money
□ Have a good time and ENJOY … very important!

There are a lot of women who have done this and are still struggling. Why? Is it because they don’t know what they’re talking about? Is it because the topics are wrong? Does everybody hate them (it can feel very personal)?

Where to start

There are certain requirements and certain things to remember. Finding someone who can help you be found and your existence acknowledged is a huge plus.

How do you find the people who can write to SEO specs? Can you get someone to do it for you? Do you trust these people? You’re giving them your passwords and more …

Your Blogs are all about you

What do you want to write? I feel that until you reach a certain age topics are easy and well documented so finding something isn’t too arduous.

When you enter your sixties (and beyond), you begin questioning what you’re doing. Do women over 65 really want to hear about makeup, clothing, accessories, how to get their grandchildren to behave, what to do about their bunions or how to lose 10 pounds and their belly.

Stylish, sexy and 60-something!

OR, have they perhaps moved on to worrying about climate change and how we’re ever going to get out of the pickle we have created? Can they save their grandchildren and future generations from a fiery death when we crash into the sun?!

There is a lot involved in writing blogs and perhaps you will be better to do your own research. But before you decide to start, please take the time to work out …

Who – are you writing for …
Why – are you writing …
What – are you writing about
When – are you going to write

It would be great to hear from you on this … do you want to write blogs? Are you looking for a specific outcome? Would you rather write a book?

And if you want to know more why not check out Suzi’s course, which is free! It has a great plan of action …
