Looking at menopause with a little sass.

So, you’ve probably heard about this thing called “Male Menopause” Yes? But let’s get real – it’s a bit of a misnomer, isn’t it? I mean, just the word “menopause” itself breaks it down for us: “meno” (month) and “pause” (stop). And sorry, guys, but your monthly cycle just isn’t a thing.

Now, the real menopause is that phase when a woman’s fertility and reproductive days bid farewell. As if you didn’t know. Most ladies go through this rollercoaster ride in their mid to late 40s or even early 50s, but hey, life’s unpredictable, right? Safer to say “it’s a moveable feast”

Gene interference

Your genes play a role in this menopausal journey (of course they do?). If your mum started her monthly visits early (before she hit 12), there’s a good chance you’ll follow suit. It’s like a family tradition, but not one we’re all excited to inherit.

Before we hit the grand finale of menopause, there’s a sneak peek called “perimenopause.” This pre-menopause phase lasts for about four years – not really anybody’s idea of a sneak peak. There are no hard and fast rules. Your periods start to play hide and seek. Sometimes they’re MIA, and other times they crash the party like they own the place. It can be a wild, unpredictable time; you can make it easier by creating a cunning plan!

Perimenopause kicks it all off

Many girls confuse perimenopause with the real deal because it brings a bunch of symptoms that are like a sneak preview of the main event. But menopause truly kicks in when Aunt Flo decides to pack her bags and never return. And for most women, this generates a sigh of relief.

However, this is not a one-size-fits-all situation. Some ladies might still be in the grip of the symptoms they experience in perimenopause when they are finally in full-blown menopause.

The transition from being a reproductive powerhouse to a non-reproductive wonder woman can mess with your physical and emotional well-being. It’s like a bizarre theme park ride – exhilarating for some, downright terrifying for others. So, buckle up ladies, and enjoy the journey – it’s all part of the wonderful world of womanhood.

And remember, now is a good time to start working on your self-belief: When nothing goes right; go left!
