5 Simple Ways to Feel Happier

There’s a plethora of unhappiness in the world today. Or is it a plethora of disappointed people who don’t have what they want or think they deserve, which is to feel happier.

Everywhere you go, you’re faced with people who look as though their cat just died. Maybe poor puss did, but there’s no need to share your abject misery with others. A simple smile costs nothing, and even through your tears, is a joyous sight for others.

These are 5 simple steps to start practicing to be happier:

I. Have an Attitude of Gratitude

Keep a journal.

You’re probably really tired of hearing this. Why are people constantly banging on about it? Because it works!

You won’t know if you don’t try so every evening, write down five things for which you are grateful. You’re the only person who will read your journal, so it doesn’t matter what you write. Nothing is too big or too small to add to your book … and make sure the journal itself is beautiful because if it looks stunning you will feel happier and want to write … try The Spirit of Flight!

II. Feel Carefree when you get Up on the Right Side of the Bed

When you wake up in the morning … before you have your glass of water

Stretch like a pussy cat
Smile
Say thank you!
Open your eyes and look at something beautiful … perhaps a collage of photos?

You’re going to feel so much happier and carefree than you did …

III. The Power of Pets

Pets enforce a routine. If you don’t work or are retired they’re invaluable. They help you get up in the morning and keep you moving through the day. Feeding the goldfish or the tortoise or the bird is comforting and how can you say NO to that wet nose and wagging tail … walkies!

Walking dogs also gives you a chance to meet new people. Doggie people are usually very friendly. Usually.

Stroking a cat or having a good old chin wag about the neighbours (with the cat, of course) is very soothing. Any conversation with a cat is rewarding because they don’t answer back. They just purr and snore. You will calm your mind and sooth your spirit.

Try this as a sleep shirt … All You Need is Books and Cats it will make you smile before sleep … in addition, you’ll feel happier going to bed!

Pet Power in a Nutshell … it makes you feel joyful

• A dog helps you to be physically active
• gently stroking a cat helps soothe your mind.
• Even watching Goldfish swim around its tank can lower your heart rate!
• Go to your local pound and rescue some little creature in need of a home; you’ll feel so much happier

IV. Feel cheerier and Crank Up the Music

Time and again good old Science has proved the body becomes more relaxed and further, the brain becomes more focussed when stimulated by music … play it loud … if it’s appropriate! Try, The Billboard #1 Hits of the 70s; it will really get you moving …

V. Curl Up With a Good Book

Reading exercises your brain; you’ll think more, and learn more, expand your vocabulary, and your memory will improve. Books can inspire and motivate … If you have never read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, do it now!

Perhaps try a Stocktake or an evaluation of what you’re doing that isn’t working for you. You can read an article here.
